Social outcomes of long-term survivors of adolescent cancer

Objectives: The study investigates psychosexual and family outcomes among German long-term survivors of adolescent cancer. Methods: Survivors of cancer during adolescence (n=820; age at onset of disease: M=15.8 years, SD=0.9, age at follow-up: M=30.4, SD=6.0 years) completed questionnaires on their family life and their psychosexual and autonomy development. Summary Background The bladder exstrophy–epispadias complex (BEEC) comprises a spectrum of congenital anomalies that represents the severe end of urorectal malformations, and has a profound impact on continence as well as sexual and renal functions. The role of the body and its functions in the psychic life of the individual has occupied a central place in psychoanalytic thinking and writing. Neurobiological signature of intimacy in anorexia nervosa

Background Intimacy and psychosexual development represent core problems of anorexia nervosa (AN). Experiential and neurobiological evidence however is scarce. Material and methods Thirty-one female AN patients were compared with 35 non-patients (NP) and 22 recovered participants (REC) by using functional magnetic resonance imaging. Participants viewed pictures of couples in intimate relationships and control stimuli. Results AN patients experienced intimate stimuli with lower valence and dominance.
